About AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a federal agency that connects people with opportunities to serve their community and address the most critical issues faced in the country. During their 10.5 months of service, our AmeriCorps Members focus on direct service work. This means that they are doing the hands-on work involved with building community, programs and (of course) housing. While the majority of our positions are on our New Home Construction and Home Preservation Teams, we do have a Volunteer Engagement and a Homeowner Services position.

Construction Crew Leader, Repairs

Accepting applications for the 2026-2027 service year. 

The Construction Crew Leader (Repairs) plays a key role in Habitat for Humanity of Orange County’s home repair program, helping to preserve affordable homeownership by completing critical repair and accessibility projects for local homeowners. Working alongside Habitat staff, the Crew Leader supports a wide range of residential construction and repair activities and, on occasion, helps lead small groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers while maintaining a safe, productive, and welcoming work environment.

This position focuses on hands-on construction work within Habitat’s home repair program, which helps homeowners keep their homes healthy, safe, and accessible. Projects may include:

• Critical repairs – such as roofing, HVAC, and plumbing
• Accessibility modifications – such as wheelchair ramps, grab bars, and handrails
• General repairs – including porch and deck replacement, painting, and patching

Service members should be prepared for physically demanding construction work, regular outdoor labor, and exposure to varying weather conditions throughout the year. Through their service, Crew Leaders will make a direct and lasting impact on the quality, safety, and accessibility of local homes and communities.

Homeowner Services Coordinator: Part Time

Accepting applications for the 2026-2027 service year. This is a half-time position (an average of 20 hours per week). 

The Homeowner Services Coordinator supports Habitat for Humanity of Orange County’s mission by helping homeowners and homebuyers access the resources, education, and support they need to succeed before, during, and after purchasing a home. As part of the Homeowner Services team, this AmeriCorps member helps strengthen relationships with current and past homeownership program participants while contributing to initiatives that promote long-term housing stability and community engagement.

This part-time, office-based position is responsible for supporting communication, outreach, and program development for homeowners at all stages of their Habitat journey. Key responsibilities include reconnecting with past program participants, helping plan and facilitate homeowner education workshops and events, supporting family engagement efforts, and producing a monthly homeowner newsletter. Through these activities, the AmeriCorps member helps ensure homeowners remain informed, connected, and empowered.

Construction Crew Leader, New Home Construction

Position filled for the 2026-2027 service year.

The Construction Crew Leader plays an integral part in building homes. They lead groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowners in construction activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment. They also help our staff complete a wide variety of day-to-day construction tasks. Through these activities, Construction crew leaders develop and enhance their leadership, construction and general problem-solving skills.
